Dr. Schmitz is a St. Louis local, born and raised in St. Louis County. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Maryville University for his undergraduate degree in Biology. He then received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan College of Chiropractic. Dr. Schmitz and his wife have two children under the age of 7 who receive chiropractic adjustments on a regular basis. Dr. Schmitz and his father, Dr. Gerald Schmitz, practice medicine in the same building and share a common goal of wanting to educate their patients on the importance of preventative healthcare.
Dr. Schmitz is dedicated to not only reducing his patient's pain scales, but also to improving their overall health and condition. Dr. Schmitz says, "It is my goal to correct the issue in the body that is causing the pain, not just relieve the pain."
Dr. Schmitz is also a TPI certified Golf Fitness Instructor, and continues to further his education through seminars and classes on a regular basis. Dr. Schmitz says, "Nutrition plays a huge role in the patient's overall health, and I love to help each patient in achieving a healthier, happier lifestyle."
Using his special Titleist Performance training, Dr. Schmitz has been involved in strength and conditioning training for the Maryville University Golf team. A research project was conducted in 2007, and each one of the participants obtained a more stable, yet more flexible golf swing, thus improving their scores on the golf course.
Dr. Schmitz is trained in A.R.T, Activator, Graston, Thompson, Diversified, and Logan Basic Techniques.
